The Last Day

Today is the last day for the Our Saviour’s 8 in Chimoio.
They begin the day with a meeting with the Vida Humanna volunteers.  Pastor Mark will have a short message for them from Our Saviours.
The group will then head out to visit the doctor at the hospital to get a picture of medical conditions in Chimoio.
After that, the group will be taking a ride out into the countryside to visit the farm.  This is several miles outside of Chimoio.  They will visit with the gardner and his wife and discuss what they see as their needs. They will have lunch at the farm.
There will be a fairwell dinner in the evening with James and Vida Humanna personnel.

Schedule for Saturday and Sunday

Saturday, August 7th

Today the Our Saviour’s Eight will be traveling a couple hours to the Gorongoza National Park.  This park had many African animals until they were all killed by poachers several years ago.  The park has been closed and new animals have been reintroduced into the park and allowed to repopulate the park.  It has just reopened recently to visitors.  There are also approximately 150 different varieties of birds that make their habitat here.
This will take up most of the day.

Sunday, August 8th

The group will be going to church this morning.  The service is set for 9:00 am.  It begins when everyone is there and lasts about 3 hours.  Pastor Mark is preaching and will be serving Communion.
Only ordained pastors are allowed to serve Communion in Mozambique.
After church they will travel to James Baker’s home to have lunch together.

Pondering and Praying by Pastor Mark

A little past midnight here in Mozambique. Great night with Misheck and his wife at dinner. Now just sitting here looking out at the streets of Mozambique and pondering and praying about how we can help Vida Humana generate resources to support their ministry. Maybe the farm and the grant from Wheatridge Ministries… maybe selling second hand wholesale clothes donated from our Clothes Closet at church … definitely more prayer. Keep the volunteers in your prayer. One is due to have a baby any day and one came down with Malaria today. I think it was the volunteer helping me supervise the painting of the logo on the wall outside the clinic. Ok, maybe we were doing more watching than painting. Anyway, please keep the volunteers at the clinic in your prayers. Everyday they walk so far to care for so many. And they do it with such great joy. They are the poorest of the poor in Africa. They have limited resources. Some living in huts we would not even store our lawnmowers in. And yet they have joy. They sing. They dance. And they trust in God. I think the joy they have discovered that joy does not come from what you have or want, but it comes from being content with what you have.

Anyway … getting  very late and I have to get up early tomorrow. Taking a break and going with some people from the clinic to a game preserve two hours away … great chance to talk and just hang out.
